Unicorns, pandas, and dinosaurs—oh my! The last time we had the pleasure of encountering all three was at a Halloween wedding a few years ago. To our delight, Sasha and Ambrose deftly wrangled together a magical menagerie over Thanksgiving weekend.
The occasion? Their Burning Man–inspired wedding retreat at Camp Navarro. Located in Northern California’s Anderson Valley, surrounded by majestic redwoods, and appointed with an assortment of rustic cabins and cozy teepees, Camp Navarro was the perfect venue for an enchanting wedding, ravey revelry, and starlit shenanigans. Unsurprisingly, five DJs were on hand to provide the soundtrack for the spirited weekend.
Archery lessons, yoga alfresco, a onesie bonfire party, and a night hike kicked off the festivities. In case you’ve never seen a troop of adults outfitted in various onesies tramping through a pitch-dark forest, it’s rather charming.
The next day, the wedding party and guests alike unleashed their inner steampunks. Sasha was an absolute knockout in a lacy two-piece Lace & Liberty dress that complemented her elegant rose-gold updo and the white feather headdress that she’d made. Meanwhile, Ambrose rocked a three-piece black-and-silver Freeborn Designs tuxedo with a copper bowtie and a white feather boutonnière (courtesy of his talented bride).
Speaking of Sasha’s craftiness (check out her Etsy shop of light-up accessories for brides and festival-goers), our jaws dropped when we beheld Sasha’s handiwork: bridesmaids’ hair decor and sparkly capelets, boutonnières, aisle decorations, reception centerpieces. We loved the palette of blue, turquoise, and gray, which reflected the peacock feathers that the wedding party wore, the striking fall-color bouquets, and the Ambrose’s Armada pins donned by the groomsmen. Custom metal camping mugs and tote bags were thoughtful favors (and practical, too!).
Before we knew it, our beautiful couple was holding hands beneath the towering redwoods, soaking in all the love as they exchanged vows and rings in front of teary-eyed guests. More tears and laughter followed in the main lodge, where everyone ate, drank, made merry, and wrapped the newlyweds in hugs and kisses. LED lights and sparklers soon competed with the stars, as did Ambrose’s awesome glow-in-the-dark wedding band.
We’re honored to have been asked to capture Sasha and Ambrose’s incredible lovefest. Feel free to listen to the set by M16 or the one by Trashpanda while perusing some of our favorite moments from this one-of-a-kind wedding.
