Janet & Prentice’s Sun, Sand & Sunset Engagement Session

It’s not every day that we get to frolic on a beach during the week so we were excited to join Janet and Prentice at San Francisco’s famed Baker Beach on a gorgeous Wednesday in March. The beach boasts not only a mile-long stretch of sand (a small portion of which is often favored by nude sunbathers) but a glorious view of the Golden Gate Bridge.

As a fellow photographer, Prentice knew we occasionally shoot film and asked if we could do so for their engagement session. We were thrilled to oblige and complemented our digital arsenal with a Diana F+ toy camera and a roll of slide film that expired in 2002 for some fun experimentation (you’ll recognize these shots by their square shape). It’s pretty magical developing your film and seeing not only how your double exposures turned out but also how the film has changed over time! Janet and Prentice were absolutely adorable playing among the waves and exploring the rugged rock formations. Even though it was breezy, we broke a sweat trying to keep up with them!

Afterwards, we hurried over to Lands End to catch the sunset over the Pacific Ocean. There really was no better way to end our brief time together! Here are some of our favorite moments.
