You might remember Erika and Levi from their fun engagement session with their adorable pooch Chloe last fall. When they told us they got engaged at Disneyland and were fans of everything Disney, we had a feeling that their wedding at Nestldown would be a dream come true.
How could it not be? Nestldown is a private estate nestled (ahem) amid towering redwoods and rolling hills. It also has the distinction of harboring an enchanted forest, complete with a storybook cottage, arched bridges, napping dragons, carousel statues, a rustic barn, waterfalls, fish-filled ponds, a mini train, and whimsical topiary. But it was Nestldown’s horses that sold Erika and Levi on having their wedding there. Says Erika, “I grew up riding horses and had always dreamed of having them in my wedding since I was a little girl, but I’d never in my wildest dreams expected that we’d be able to have a fairytale wedding in the redwoods with horses.”
Erika was the belle of the ball in a lace-and-sparkle-bedecked mermaid gown and sparkle flats, and Levi channeled Prince Charming with his charcoal suit, pink-and-white polka dot tie, pink boutonniere, and Grape Soda pin. Even Chloe sported a brand-new collar and leash that matched the pink-and-green theme and enhanced her heart-shaped eyes. We loved that Levi’s sister, his best woman, insisted on powdering him (much to his chagrin).
Our couple saw each other for the first time that day by the wishing well, and we’re sure the birds and woodland critters present got a touch teary-eyed, too. After a gift exchange and portraits with the horses, it was time to tie the knot. Chloe served as ring bearer and flower girl, and watched excitedly with Levi and their guests as Erika descended the steep, forest staircase with her father and stepfather. Our newlyweds followed the poignant ceremony with a Cinderella moment among the redwoods before making their grand entrance into the reception via the Nestldown Redwood Railway.
Thoughtful, handmade touches enlivened an already special day. Erika designed the wedding invitations, programs, and stationery while Levi penned most of the chalkboard signs with his impeccable printing skills. Erika’s sisters also lent their talents, with Megan baking dog treat favors and Ashleigh drafting the fingerprint tree (complete with swing!) guestbook. Erika’s dad handcut wood slices for the dessert bar. Ornate hardcover versions of fairytale classics graced each table.
The rest of the evening was a blur of love, laughter, and too much fun (if there is such a thing!), and we lost count of the number of guests who energetically cartwheeled, wormed, and spun across the dancefloor. Before we knew it, Nestldown’s 1960s British taxi whisked away our newlyweds into the cool, spring night.
We’re so honored to be among those who witnessed the beginning of Erika and Levi’s happily ever after. Here’s a glimpse of their dream come true.
